Masonville
The Masonville Secondary Plan applies to properties in the Masonville community that are inside the Transit Village Place Type. It is not a plan for every street people call Masonville. Settle representation with a buyer's agent in London before you tour.
Where the name comes from
The name is tied to Mason House, a tavern built in 1858, and a post office established in 1874 at Highways 4 and 22, now Richmond Street and Fanshawe Park Road.
What the plan covers
The Masonville Secondary Plan covers about 89 hectares (219 acres) in north London, generally along Richmond Street between Plane Tree Drive and Shavian Boulevard, and along Fanshawe Park Road between Masonville Public School and Fawn Court. The precise line is Schedule 1. That line is the secondary-plan area. It is not redrawn here as the neighbourhood boundary.
Masonville Public School is a boundary reference in the plan. This page does not describe the school and does not rank it.
The plan says the secondary-plan area is currently occupied primarily by low-rise commercial buildings, multi-unit residential uses, and large expanses of surface parking. That sentence is about the plan area, not the surrounding houses.
The plan was approved in October 2021 and updated in June 2023. The London Plan lists it as the Masonville Secondary Plan (OPA 45), as amended by OLT-21-001766. It is a growth framework for the Transit Village, including a Protected Major Transit Station Area. It does not replace zoning on a given lot.
Not a Main Street
Masonville is not in the Main Street list in Our City.
The library branch
London Public Library history says Masonville Branch opened at 30 North Centre Road on 14 October 1995. That is a branch address, not the plan boundary.
The listing agent can share facts about a property's location. An opinion on whether the name fits your week is advice, and that advice does not come from the seller's agent. Read written representation before the tour.
The Main Street note uses the City's 16 January 2026 website consolidation. The printed official plan takes precedence over those copies. The secondary-plan PDF linked above is the June 2023 update.
