Byron
Byron is a Main Street Place Type in The London Plan. London Buyers Agent uses City and library sources for this page, and does not rank the place.
The London Plan does not map a Byron neighbourhood boundary. No sourced streetscape description was found. This page does not invent one.
Main Street Place Type
Our City policy 133, item 2, names Byron as a Main Street. Place Type Policies, policy 906, puts Byron in the separate Main Street Place Type list, not the Old East Village, Richmond Row, and SoHo corridor group.
A Main Street status is a planning status for a street or corridor. It is not a neighbourhood boundary and not a heritage designation.
Byron is not on the City's Business Improvement Area list.
The gravel pits are not in Byron
The Byron Gravel Pits Secondary Plan is not a Byron plan. The pits are on the east side of Colonel Talbot Road, south of Byron Baseline Road and Commissioners Road West, within the Westmount Neighbourhood, immediately adjacent to the Byron Neighbourhood.
The library branch
London Public Library history says the Byron Memorial Library was founded by the Women's Institute in 1935. On 1 January 1961, due to annexation, the library acquired the Byron branch, with Argyle and Broughdale. The Byron Memorial Branch opened in a new building at 1295 Commissioners Road West on 7 April 1972. That address is a branch, not a neighbourhood centre.
A location fact is not a fit opinion
The listing agent can share facts about a property's location. An opinion on whether Byron fits your week is advice, and that advice does not come from the seller's agent. Settle representation on before you tour.
These policy notes use the City's 16 January 2026 website consolidation. The printed official plan takes precedence over those copies.
